Establishing Negroni’s First U.S. Production Facility with Precision Fire Protection
Safeguarding a Landmark Italian Food Manufacturing Investment in the Shenandoah Valley

Negroni, backed by Veronesi Holding S.p.A., launched this project to establish its first-ever U.S. production facility, bringing its renowned Italian cured meats manufacturing expertise to North America.

Located in Virginia’s Shenandoah Valley, the new Harrisonburg-area plant was designed to support large-scale food processing, temperature-controlled production rooms, dry storage and distribution operations. The objective was to create a modern, highly efficient food manufacturing facility that upheld Negroni’s legacy of quality while meeting U.S. regulatory, safety and operational standards.

With a $100 million investment and more than 150 jobs planned, the facility required a fire protection system engineered to perform across varied environments, from cold process rooms to high-activity storage and shipping areas.

Value Delivered

North American Fire Protection delivered a tailored fire sprinkler solution designed to protect a complex, multi-environment food production facility.

Our team provided:

  • High-reliability protection for temperature-controlled food processing spaces
  • ESFR fire protection for high-volume dry storage operations
  • Seamless integration across production, warehouse and office environments
  • Code-compliant life safety infrastructure supporting long-term operational growth

By aligning fire protection engineering with CMC’s facility design and Negroni’s manufacturing workflows, NAFPCO helped create a resilient, future-ready production environment built for continuous, high-quality food manufacturing.

Scope of Services

North American Fire Protection provided full design and installation of the facility’s fire sprinkler systems, including:

  • Wet pipe sprinkler systems serving food processing and production areas
  • Dry pendent sprinkler protection for temperature-controlled rooms below 40°F
  • ESFR sprinkler protection for high-density dry storage operations
  • Concealed sprinkler systems in office spaces
  • Integrated protection beneath equipment mezzanines and IMP ceiling systems
  • Fire protection engineered in accordance with NFPA 13 standards

All systems were customized for food manufacturing performance and operational reliability, as outlined in NAFPCO’s project proposal.
