PRIMAL PET GROUP

Our niche is Cold Storage and Food Processing. This project, Primal Pet Products, is a recent example of our work in action. It included a complete fire sprinkler system to protect the proposed 156,000-square-foot food processing and cold storage facility in Abilene, Texas.

As far as the nuts and bolts, our team provided a new 2,500 GPM at 90 psi diesel-driven fire pump. At the same time, we demolished and removed the existing 1,500 GPM fire pump. The extent of our work doesn’t end here, however. The scope of the work called for replacing and upgrading four (4) existing wet pipe alarm check valves. Complementing this work, plans called for the installation of a new 10" interior wet feed main from the new fire pump room to a new riser room.

Fire suppression systems are multi-dimensional and multi-faceted, which is why we provided dry pendent sprinklers thru new IMP ceilings areas maintained below 40°F. For ceiling areas maintained above 40°F, plans call for wet sprinklers. Building on this foundation, our team was tasked with providing a Double Interlock Preaction System to protect the new freezer and cold dock. Systems include a Dry Air Pac compressor and linear heat detection.

Other elements of the project include a wet pipe system located in the new riser room to protect the additional interstitial space and supply heads thru IMP ceilings. Heads in the existing building were supplied from the overhead sprinkler system, while extending the existing wet system into the new office addition. This called for removing existing drops in IMP ceilings being demolished.

During this phase of the project, our team also provided ESFR dry pendants thru Post IFP WIP Freezer IMP ceiling. We have included flexible connectors for all pendent and dry pendent heads. In short, this project — like everyone we take on — provided an opportunity to make a difference. Today, fire sprinklers are used extensively worldwide, with more than 40 million sprinkler heads installed. They are widely recognized as the single-most effective method for fighting the spread of fires in their early stages before they can cause severe injury to people and damage to property.
