MAR-JAC POULTRY

At North American Fire Protection, we have what it takes to form lasting relationships with clients, especially those in niche segments. The Mar-Jac Poultry project in Gainesville, Georgia is a great example of how we’ve shined by developing a custom plan that catered to the precise needs of this food process facility expansion.

In phase one of the project, the plant was expanded by 8,200 square feet and went from harvesting 2.2 million chickens per week to 3.4 million.

Mar-Jac trusted our team to complete a design build fire sprinkler suppression system to protect the new food processing space. Here’s a look at the scope of the work completed during phase one:

  • We installed an overhead wet pipe system for the interstitial space and pump room.
  • We placed upright sprinklers above the insulated metal panel ceilings and then placed viking wet stainless steel fusible link sprinkler pendents on SprinkFlex flexible sprinkler hose drops pulled through the ceiling to protect the space below.
  • To mitigate risk, we installed stainless steel pipe fittings and sprinklers beneath the equipment platforms to protect workers and the machinery below.
  • We provided a dry pipe system with an air compressor to protect the refrigerated conveyor corridor.

Since the completion of phase one, Mar-Jac is on an upward trajectory with the planned growth of their 15 acre process expansion. These moves are a win for the Gainesville community in terms of jobs and other economic impacts. By building strong relationships, working well with clients and other subcontractors we are happy to be called back to complete the next seven phases of the project through 2025.
