AGILE COLD STORAGE

Building a Next-Generation Cold Chain Hub in Central Georgia High-Performance Fire Protection for Advanced, High-Density Cold Storage Operations

Agile Cold Storage sought to expand its Southeast footprint with a state-of-the-art, multi-temperature cold storage facility in Macon, Georgia, strategically positioned near Interstates I-16 and I-75 to connect regional distribution networks with the Port of Savannah.

The goal was to create a high-capacity, automation-ready warehouse capable of supporting refrigerated and frozen goods, import/export logistics and rapid throughput for food and pharmaceutical customers. With over 275,000 square feet of temperature-controlled space, high-bay storage configurations and advanced refrigeration systems, the project required a fire protection solution engineered specifically for extreme cold environments and large-scale industrial operations.

Value Delivered

North American Fire Protection delivered a mission-critical fire sprinkler system designed to protect high-density cold storage while supporting Agile’s advanced automation and throughput demands.

NAFPCO’s solution provided:

  • Reliable protection for high-bay freezer environments and multi-temperature zones
  • Rapid-response suppression systems engineered for tall storage configurations
  • Redundant water supply and fire pump infrastructure for continuous operational resilience
  • Integration with blast freeze and specialized cold storage areas

By aligning fire protection engineering with TI Cold’s innovative facility design, NAFPCO helped ensure uninterrupted operations, regulatory compliance and long-term protection of a major cold chain logistics investment.

Scope of Services

North American Fire Protection provided full design and installation of the facility’s fire protection infrastructure, including:

  • Preaction sprinkler systems engineered for high-bay freezer storage
  • Dry pipe systems protecting cold dock environments
  • ESFR sprinkler protection for refrigerated dock areas
  • Dual diesel fire pump systems delivering high-capacity water flow and pressure
  • A dedicated above-ground water storage tank supporting extended fire protection demand
  • Integrated detection and control systems tailored for cold storage safety

All systems were designed in accordance with NFPA 13, NFPA 20 and NFPA 22 standards and optimized for high-density cold storage operations, as outlined in NAFPCO’s project proposal.
